SAFETY STORIES
AMTC Pre-conference Workshop
(Funded by Air Medical Operators Association)

Safety is on the minds of everyone as we plan for the 2010 Air Medical Transport Conference. Unfortunately, our industry has lost several close friends and colleagues as the result of air medical accidents that have occurred since the beginning of the year.

Do you have an experience that brings safety into focus when you discuss this topic with your colleagues? Can you talk about “what safety looks like”? Do you believe that your story is compelling enough to move others to focus on safe practices around their aircraft or ground transport vehicle? Do you wish that you could share your story with everyone in the industry? Cathy Jaynes had such an experience as did our 2009 AMTC pre-conference workshop participants and they have shared their stories using digital story telling to convey their message. You can view these stories by following the Safety Stories link on this website and clicking on the story.

At the 2010 Air Medical Transport Conference, The Center for Medical Transport Research will conduct a pre-conference workshop for the creation of digital safety stories. These stories will highlight important safety messages for our industry and will augment any local or national efforts to improve air medical safety. We will be working with professional writers and production managers from the Center for Digital Storytelling (Berkeley, CA) and Pilgrim’s Projects (Landsbeach, England) to produce each individual story. These stories will be available during the conference and beyond as teaching tools and agents for change to strengthen our industry’s culture of safety.
